Infertility
Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after one year. A third of infertility is caused by the woman, a third by the man and a third of the time there is an issue with both partners. Often the male component is overlooked. At Wellness Architecture, we take all of parts into consideration. Sometimes with advanced age or issues like endometriosis, medical intervention is necessary. However, in most cases, issues may be improved or resolved more simply with the help of naturopathic medicine.
There are many things that may delay or prevent conception:
- Abnormal sperm/low sperm count
- Blood sugar disorders
- Endometriosis
- Incorrect timing of intercourse
- Lack of ovulation
- Low progesterone (luteal phase defect)
- PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)
- Stress
Sub-clinical or undiagnosed thyroid disorders - Weight (too low/high)
Outside of these issues, there is also unexplained infertility. This is often remedied by treating underlying health issues not commonly associated with fertility such as:
- Fatigue
- Poor diet/food sensitivities
- Poor digestion
- Toxicity
- Undiagnosed infections

How this simple lab test can reveal the cause of your fatigue…and your weight gain.
(Reposted from April 2022)
A friend of mine told me about this new book about a month ago. It was by a neurologist I have great respect for, David Perlmutter. I have heard him speak in person several times and basically trust anything he has to say. I nearly fell off my chair when I read some of the things he was saying. There was a new marker – using an old test – that could reveal information that could help me help my patients even more. I got so excited, I started testing all my current patients for it.
All of these conditions have this marker in common:
The top two things you need to remove from your body that cause fatigue
The number one thing people consume to boost their energy hands down – is coffee. But for optimal sustained energy – we really need to address these two things.
Here’s one of the single most effective things you can do for your longevity
I was at a BBQ yesterday and it got me thinking. I was having a conversation with someone about a health and wellness retreat in Mexico. She was telling me about the meals that they served. My questioning was geared towards where I would get my protein. The reason for this? My goal every day is to keep my energy high and even. In order to do this I need to focus on
Here are 2 habits that will give you better sleep and more energy
Your body is always trying to keep things in balance. This is called homeostasis. When you let your body go too long without eating, your blood sugar dips too low and your liver compensates by dumping glycogen (2 sugar molecules bound together) into your bloodstream. This is like a fire hose…
Why this little known marker is more important than cholesterol
There is a common debate I have with patients. Statins – to take or not to take? The question is, is this the right question? When we look at cholesterol, what are we really looking at? Is cholesterol the cause of heart disease, or is it a symptom? Are we targeting the right thing when we lower cholesterol? Something I often discover is that there is always something more that we don’t know, that we don’t know. Years ago, I learned about this other marker, touted to be more indicative of heart disease than cholesterol. Discovered by another McCully, Dr. Kilmer McCully.
How this unknown sensory organ can make your body feel years younger
If you were asked to make a prediction about the age of someone from behind or from the side, you’d likely be basing your guess on posture. How straight up or how hunched over they stood when they walked. Did they pick their feet up off the floor gingerly, or were they shuffling? Were they limping or walking with ease? If you were to watch my 74 year old yoga teacher walk from behind, you’d think he was in his thirties. Why? Because he is very limber. Besides being thin and having an obviously muscular frame, his posture is straight, he is light on his feet and has a quickness in his step that is clear he doesn’t have any pain. How is this man different from most? And how can you feel more like him? My new obsession is …
